College Advising Packages

Full Package (for 11th and 12th Graders)

Designed for the student who wishes to fully optimize a college selection and application strategy, our college consulting services in this package include:

  • Review student’s transcript, standardized test scores and current class schedule
  • Review of questionnaires for student and parent/guardian regarding the goals, interests, values and strengths important to them in the college search process
  • Review of learning style and career profiles completed by student
  • Develop a plan to continue or enhance the student’s academic profile
  • Establish a timeline for standardized testing and test preparation strategies and classes
  • Review extracurricular activities and develop opportunities to deepen these experiences (including summer plans if time allows)
  • Develop student resumé
  • Develop Target College List (Combination of what we categorize as Reach, Ballpark and Safety Schools).
  • Identify colleges to visit
  • Prepare for college visits (including interview preparation)
  • Determine Early Decision and Early Action strategy
  • Develop timeline for completion of applications
  • Review resume to maximize presentation of activities, achievements and community services
  • Discuss essay ideas and review completed drafts (limited to three essays, including the essay and short answer in the Common Application and one additional essay)
  • Determine possible writers of letters of recommendation
  • Best approach for requesting letters of recommendation
  • Review applications and any supplemental materials for submission
  • Prepare for college interviews
  • Review scholarship applications
  • Review financial aid options
  • Assist in evaluating admissions offers and making enrollment decisions
  • Develop strategies for success in college

Our Modified Package:

We offer the ability to purchase a four or six hour block of time to be used for any college advising service that students may need. Choose one service from the following:

  • Develop student resume to maximize presentation of activities, achievements and community services
  • Brainstorm and discuss essay ideas and review completed drafts
  • Review applications and any supplemental materials for submission
  • Prepare for college interviews
  • Review scholarship applications and materials for submission

NOTE: Target College List development service is not available through this package.

Services are available on an hourly basis, depending on the client’s needs. Please contact us to arrange an initial pre-consultation or request a specific service. 

Advising for 8th, 9th and 10th Graders

Early planning prepares the way to an optimal high school experience, and positions the student to make the most of their strengths (and find new ones). Working with a private college counselor to plan  during 8th, 9th and 10th grade will enhance the possibilities for students to find college success. For these students CCG Advisors  can provide the following services in rates similar to our modified package:

  • Planning a course of study for high school classes
  • Review of learning style and career profiles completed by student
  • Research for involvement in academic activities outside of high school
  • Alignment of extracurricular activities, including community service and sports
  • Optimize summer plans
  • Determine scheduling and course of study for future testing
  • Plan college visits
  • Prepare overview of the timeline and steps involved in the college admissions process
